Is your kitchen utensil hygienic enough?

“Safety is really about how much leaching can happen when you eventually put your food in it. Not necessarily, the type of material because even, when you look at the different types of cookware that we have you could have a Stainless Steel pot that is really unsafe.” — Nancy Umeh
The founder of Radiance Cookware, Nancy Umeh née Obidi graced this episode. I’ve always been an advocate of safe and hygienic cooking however, even as we promote and advocate for food safety what about the utensils used in making the food? Our (I mean I and my team member) attention got drawn to cookwares then I thought all these also have a role it plays and also has its relevance to promoting safe and hygienic cooking.
I first got to know about Nancy when she started her YouTube channel. We also followed each other back on Instagram at the time when I was actively still creating food content (I.e food recipes) on my personal blog. I loved her content but hardly did I know she was also into cookwares and when I eventually got to know and this episode was set to happen she came highly recommended by everyone on the team.
The recording and conversation with Nancy happened on a Sunday morning 23rd May 2021. I must say Nancy knows her onions if you listen to the episode not only will you discover that but you’ll also understand the need to be cautious of what utensils you buy and use in preparing your meals.
Nancy’s episode did address the safe and unsafe cookwares we have in the market today it even boils down to the famously known and revered clay pot. She made it known that not all clay pots are safe for cooking. One thing you should take note of is as you are paying attention to what you ingest and are doing all you can to eat hygienically prepared meals you should also try as much as possible to make sure the cooking utensils are fit for cooking. At the end of the day, all this begs the question is your kitchen utensil hygienic for cooking? you can only find out in this episode.
