My Cookery Zone Podcast Newsletter (An Introduction)
Hello everyone,
I am ìyanuolúwa and I host the food podcast, My Cookery Zone Podcast. Welcome to the very first newsletter of the My Cookery Zone podcast.
If you search through the internet or social media platforms you'll find the #MCZPodcast to have been in existence since the year 2015 or so. Don't fret it's the same podcast from the Cookery Zone Platform. I started reading news articles back then of stories covered for the week on My Cookery Zone Platform. Presently, you may not find any of the recordings online they've been moved to an archive for future references but as it stands today the podcast is back, back with a lot of changes compared to the year it started and stopped abruptly.
Before season one kicked off, we (I mean myself and the team at My Cookery Zone) came up with 12 plus 1 topic that is, 13 topics were chosen for the first season but in the end, we ended up doing just 6.
The six amazing episodes didn't just happen overnight it's evidence of hard work, dedication, resilience, and determination.
In the episodes, topical issues were raised on reasons why food hygiene and safety are of utmost importance (Ep. 1). Even as we promote and advocate for food safety what about the utensils used in making the food? Our attention got drawn to cookwares and its relevance to promoting safe and hygienic cooking (Ep. 2).
Even as ideas and new techniques erupt every day different fusion cookings are taking over the culinary space hence, making afro-fusion cooking one of the most revered fusions found in the world (Ep. 3).
The primary sources of food have been identified to either be from plants or animals but what happens when an individual decides to get essential vitamins and minerals from just a single source? hence, the discussion on the plant-based lifestyle (Ep. 4).
After identifying the sources of food and after understanding the need to make food safe for consumption what happens when socio-economic issues result in the incessant rise and fall of food prices making food inflation a serious issue affecting the food chain. (Ep. 5) What's next when the body absorbs too much sugar or when the food consumed leads to a high concentration of sugar in the bloodstream.? (Ep. 6)
What I have successfully done is to introduce to you or give you an idea of the topics discussed this season on the podcast which can be found on audio listening platforms.
Each episode of the podcast was achieved, without the exemption of research, scheduling interviews, recording, editing audio recordings, creating podcast episode flyers, and countless times listening to the episodes before the final release. A quick back story, you see this voice I flaunt today, I have been abused for it, I have been shamed for it, I have been ashamed for not having a "masculine voice" I have blamed myself and my creator for the voice I feel really proud of today.
Away from the back story, the idea of My Cookery Zone Podcast is to tell food stories and the people behind the exquisite cuisine just like the blog. In all my years of writing, I have never written a script before neither have I been opportune to edit audio even though I knew a little about editing videos and photos before now. I learned how to edit and write scripts along the way as we were recording episodes. The team learned how to make voice-overs. Everything became more clearer after episode one and if you are an ardent listener you'll observe the changes that have occurred over the timeframe of releasing the 6 episodes.
In the coming weeks, the team and I will be bringing you up to speed on how each episode came to fruition and everything in between from research, interviews with guests, production, and post-production tales.
Talk to you shortly!
