The impromptu episode that became most sought after.
"The problem with diabetes is not the sugar we take. The problem with diabetes is when things go bad. The problem with diabetes is what we call glucose intolerance." _ Dr. Ibukun Afolami
Hello Again, Dearest newsletter reader this might be the very last letter before the commencement of our new season of My Cookery Zone Podcast. It has indeed been a journey and thank you for coming on that journey with us it was worth it taking you on the ride.
The too much sugar episode was born out of the need to make people understand and aware of diabetes. Also, with keen intent to know the role sugar play in the human body. Another thing was to demystify the myth surrounding the consumption of sugar.Dr. Ibukun Afolami a scientist and lecturer at the University of Ibadan came highly recommended alongside other great lecturers at the department of Human nutrition and dietetics.
On arrival at his office (note this was my very first encounter with him) he decided to grant the interview at the very minute I made the proposal. Questions and script for the episode were ready but I didn't go along to his office with a lapel mic. I had with me just my phone and laptop. Dr. Ibukun right on the spot said there was no need to delay the episode any longer.
The interview that later made it to the episode titled too much sugar was done under 10 minutes. This episode I will consider an impromptu because even the idea for the episode was fully developed during the diabetes awareness month.
It was an enlightening episode and one that gives an in-depth knowledge of the issues surrounding diabetes and sugar consumption.
