The most delayed episode.
"The problem with food inflation are quite extensive... Nigeria was trying to diversify the economy to improve our agricultural sector that has been abandoned since the discovery of crude oil in the 70s the federal government declared that land boarders closed so as to discourage importation..." _ Samuel Oyekanmi
The honest truth is episode 5 would have been the final episode for the season. Plans for episode 5 started in May 2021. The idea was to speak to an expert on the economy, to get an in-depth understanding and analysis of the issues with food inflation.
This episode was in three parts; first, market interview/report; second, gathering relevant data and analysis; third, interview with an expert. The market interview/report took forever even when the interview with an expert from Naira Metrics already happened the episode was still lacking in the market report.
The interview with Samuel Oyekanmi from Naira Metrics happened on June 12th, 2021. There was a lot happening in the country on this day internet connections kept going down this was as a result of the Democracy Day protest. One lesson I learned from even connecting with a representative of Naira Metrics was just put yourself outside I had anxiety about sending the invitation mail probably because I thought My Cookery Zone wasn't a really big brand but to my surprise, I was connected to a representative and Samuel Oyekanmi came highly recommended for the interview. However, with a collaborative effort from the team (Iyanuoluwa Komolafe and Daniel Ochuko) and Nelly Chris Omeonu inclusive, the episode came to reality.
One thing you'll love about the episode is the incredible breakdown and detailed analysis of issues affecting the Nigerian economy. About production, this was the longest episode produced because the entire episode was 20 minutes. No doubt enough attention was paid to this episode as a result of the delay it was released on the 16th of November 2021.
If there's one thing I can attest to is that the professionalism, research, wealth of knowledge, and information embedded into just this single episode has kept on opening doors even in places I least expected.
My Cookery Zone Platform has continued keeping tabs on issues and the latest development on the rise and fall of food prices.
